Unpaved, steep part of Iron Mountain Road was less than desirable. Parking lots were good. The one at the trailhead was lamd donated by the landowner. Approximately 5-7 vehicles properly parked can be accommodated. There is an overflow lot below this area. Please park properly so that some poor soul who drove up that road doesn't have to turn around. |

One step over, a couple very small dry beds. |

Good signage at start. Watch for "No Tresspassing Private Property " sign in the open field near the house. Thank you. |

Saw two happy Frenchies. Pleas remember, some of this is private property. You'll need extra water. Not sure about the cliff area as we did not go. Be careful, if warranted. |

Wow!!!! Hadn't been here in years. What a nice surprpise! A relo has been done, leading to a much better footbed and gentle grades due to switchbacks. Another hiker told me the AMC was contracted to do all that work! Great appreciation to the AMC and local landowners.
Nice views from a spur, shortly before the summit. No sign for it, but you'll see it
Went late in the afternoon and did not want to drive down the steep, narrow unpaved section in the dark, so we saved the cliffs and mine for another day. |
