Comments
Comments: Went up for the Fags on the 48 to bag Eisenhower and Monroe. What a day! Edmands Path was consistently chalenging and relativelty dry. There was some water here and there from the recent rain, but nothing bad. Above treeline was prfectly dry, no wind, cool crisp air for Sept. We had to go around to summit MOnroe as we missed the junction that goes up Little Monroe, so that added more time and miles. We then made the decision to descend back on the Ammo trail, which in hindsight was a big mistake. The upper part was steep and tricky with a lot of running water. The middle part was just plain steep and rocky. The new route just pain sucked. It was muddy, buggy and the switchbacks just sucked any remaining energy from our legs. We were planning on the 2 mile road walk back to Mt. Clinton Rd to the car, but were saved my a woman who offered us a ride, even with our dog. We gladly accepted and were SO appreciative for a fellow hiker.
