Comments
Comments: Foggy with no views throughout the day, but a cool eerie feel throughout the woods as I hiked along. Blueberry Ledge Trail was dry for the first couple of miles. Snow/ice patches began close to the Tom Wiggins junction and lasted up to the tricky ledges. Ledges were dry and able to navigate without issue, with some snow/ice patches in-between each section. At the junction with the Rollins Trail, I put on my beater spikes. There was a soft narrow monorail throughout, requiring great care not to post hole, but too choppy to use snow shoes safely. From the junction with Dicey Mills Trail up to the peak of Passaconaway, it was mostly monorail, but a bit wider than on Rollins and easier to travel on with spikes. I wore my spikes down Dicey Mills Trail for about a mile from the junction with Rollins Trail. At that point, the trail was dry. I had no problem at the large water crossing using the log and there were also rocks and log debris that could be used to cross lower, but with Sunday's rain, I'm guessing those rocks may be submerged. Overall, typical spring conditions but very doable with spikes and hiking poles.
