Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: USFS parking was surprisngly empty. I think a lot of the skiers have given up but we still saw quite a few.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Snow/Ice - Frozen Granular, Mud - Significant, Snow/Ice - Monorail (Unstable)
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment: Snowshoes, Light Traction
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: The only one we had some trouble with was the first on Ammo between the USFS parking lot and the Ammo Link juction. We crossed right at the blazed trail (which jogs upstream at the island) but it required a slightly tricky log walk and rock jump.

Comments
Comments: We did barebooting for more than half the day and spikes on/off several times. Ammo above Gem Pool still has lots of snow but has good frozen boot prints to use as steps. Some people may want more agressive traction since the top layer of snow is slushy and can be slippery. Above tree line things were mostly bare rock with a handful of areas with snow. We put spikes on/off 3 or 4 times coming down Jewell. That was the only place with semi-ice. Overall the day was slower than it normally takes me because of slower going on the snow and transitioning in & out of spikes.
