Comments
Comments: We needed Whiteface for May and I’m glad we had a non water crossing hike and heard there wasn’t much snow left here. Great day for trail runners on our feet and only needed rock spikes up after the ledges to the true summit. Met some nice people out there today . Especially cool to cross paths with Donna ( a grid finisher ) hiking with a rock star , Dagny, who is nearly done with her 48 over 80 years old! Bonus not needing to continue on to Passaconaway with the messy rotting snow conditions on Rollins trail. I don’t think snowshoes would help as the trail was uneven and postholed [but if people wore snowshoes, the trail would be smoother with less postholes]. Very spring conditions. Rock spikes did help on the crappy old snow. I did notice no new recent tracks coming from Kate sleeper trail when I went to find a tree to water. Still a fair amount of yucky snow on that trail.
