I am the trail adopter; I cleared 17 drainages (6 major, 11 minor) on the loop, leaving just Willow Rock and the few that are north of it before the junction.
I also brushed in the herd paths on Allens Ledge.
No new blowdowns today; the USFS Saco knows about the massive one about 0.2 miles from the loop junction on the east side and it is on the chainsaw list. |

This entire route is free of ice and snow!!! Hurray!! I hiked the loop counterclockwise so that I would have lots of time for the drainages between the summit and the east ledges. I saw some nifty undercast from the summit but by the time that I got to the east ledges, everything was socked in. There is minimal mud on the route, and it’s pretty much contained to the usual locations. This summer I will be working to address these sections; I appreciate your patience as I work to improve these bits! |
