Comments
Comments: Amazing amount of melt happening up there in just the last 3 weeks. But for the last mile before clearing treeline on Jewell, where I wore spikes, I bare booted the whole day. Were there still icy patches and rotting monorail? Slushy snow fields to traverse? Yes, but the bother of putting the spikes on & off trumped the minimal sliding that these sections presented. It was mostly bare rock above treeline, including the entire summit cone of Jeff. Undercast was amazing, a great day.
