Comments
Comments: Wet solid dirt up to turnoff to elephant head. Mud begins here. Put on spikes just below turnoff for Bugle Cliff. Combo of bare rock, mud and ice patches for first half turning into packed and stable monorail. Saw at least 4 people without spikes, 2 with sneakers! I think they were pretty miserable but they made it up and down. The day was rainy and warm so some slushy conditions on top third. Upper scramble is bare. Started out in rain and lightening, then fog and clouds, the sun came out and skies cleared when we reached the summit. Beautiful views and pleasant grayjay greetings. Began to rain again on the way down and the larger water crossing was higher and running significantly faster. Still crossable with a reasonable hop even for this 54 yo body! It just looks scary because if you slip that water is raging fast!
