Comments
Comments: Went up FW. Put on traction after the 2nd water crossing but I was wearing spike boots. Many others put traction on just after the first crossing. It was a mixed bag of wet, dry, and packed snow to the last crossing then straight hard-packed snow until just before popping out at Little Haystack. Some brief slippery divoted snow just before popping out. Mostly bare across the ridge with some pockets of soft-packed snow in the shady-ish krumholtz areas. Bare from Lafayette summit to treeline then consistent packed snow and baby monorail until the Agonies. Mixed, messy bag from there until about a mile and a quarter before the trailhead. Some sections of deep-ish flowing water and mud before the FW junction.

With rising temps, snowshoes would be the better choice for Falling Waters in coming days. There is still several feet of snow. The sign at the Shining Rock spur was still half buried.
