Comments
Comments: Hiked to Greenleaf Hut with option to summit Lafayette but elected not to. Typical mixed conditions, ice and snow patches within first mile, mostly avoidable until the pass beneath Eagle Cliff. From there I wore spikes the rest of the way, on a firm monorail snow is 2 to 3 feet deep in spots with signs of significant deep post holes from warmer times. The descent is where post holing is most likely especially as the snow warms due to the force of your feet coming down, so snowshoes would be a safe bet given the forecast for warmer temps. Spikes came on and off beneath the pass. Icey spots that seemed navigable on the ascent were slippery traps on the descent.
