| Comments: |
Perfect day in the mountains, we started at 715a with temps around 10F. Complete bare ground for at least a mile up carter-moriah trail. Then a dusting of snow on trail with icy sections. We put on microspikes at around 2.5 miles in due to the blue flow ice and black thin ice coating rocks and ledge. A bit more snow up on Mt Surprise, but snowshoes we’re not needed at all. Even up to Moriah, hiking was mostly bare rock with ice and a bit of powder. Excellent crystal clear views, no wind, bright sun and bluebird skies. |
