Today's hike wasn't about crossing water... but about walking in a trail (Tucks headwall section) that "was" water :-) |

Hardly any throughout the day (too windy and cool, I suspect). But on the descent, black flies were out below Hermit Lake. |

Doing some redlining today... and I had never hiked the full length of Tuckerman's Ravine Trail. I marveled at the rock work that went into placing steps and/or rocks securing the trail bed as it snaked down the head wall. There was still a small band left from the snow arch, which was cool to see.
I had hiked Lions Head in winter, but not in 3-season (summer route a bit different)...so that was interesting for me.
The only down side was a ginormous conga line of people on the trail. I had to yield repeatedly... very crowded. Also... folks out that had no idea how long it was to the summit, a man with his 3 year old on his shoulders (going up the headwall), folks with dogs who looked tuckered...... I suspect the hiker shuttle van has a brisk and successful business.
