Gorgeous day above treeline! Ammonusic packed out and firm in the morning, with some ice on the steep sections, but snowshoes worked fine and were helpful on the descent; variable snow, ice and rock up high, with a lot of wind, especially on summit cone. Still lots of snow near the hut; I ate lunch on the roof, and there are deep drifts just below the hut. Very sunny though and pretty mild . Lots of skiers out! |
