Comments
Comments: With most, if not all, crossings high post-rain we opted out of any of our original plans. Little did we know we would still be playing in a river. We ran into two nice guys just above Evergreen Link, and they told us we were about to climb a river. Ha! we thought. However, they were right.

At about 1600' the trail-river began. We cleared out a few water bars along the ascent, which on the return trip proved to be somewhat helpful. Right around 17/1800' you could only walk up with the water, as there were few places to step around. The rockier portions of trail above 2200' were flooded, and walking through brush was necessary. We had the summit to ourselves, ate lunch, and watched threatening clouds swirl in the notch, and over by Kezar lake. The trip down was fun, no one took a dive but we all came close between mud, wet moss and leaves. Lower portion of Cold Brook Trail was a breeze. Small section of beech saplings gave us a quick hold up, but we pushed through and followed the foot bed. After that it was essentially all logging roads and snowmobile trails. Lower crossings were peachy - thanks to the guys for letting us know when we saw them. Amy (who finished redlining six years prior on the same day) took the Evergreen Link back to grab one of the cars, and drove to pick us up at the end of Enid Melrose Road to reduce the walk (thanks!).
