Comments
Comments: Now that snow and ice have come to the Western Mountains, this is the time of year where we mostly turn to hikes in the Oxford Hills and along the coast. Today we travelled to Camden Hills State Park in Lincolnville to hike Cameron and Bald Rock Mountains.

We started up the Multi-Use Trail from Youngstown Road which is a wide road-like trail. After an easy 1.25 miles, we turned onto the Cameron Mountain Trail. This was another easy trail which led us to the 0.1 mile long spur to the summit of Cameron Mountain. The peak is bald due to the blueberry barrens, and had great views throughout the interior of the Camden Hills in all directions.

We then continued along the Cameron Mountain Trail until we reached the Sky Blue Trail. The Sky Blue Trail was a nice easy footpath which wound through beautiful forest. After a short section on the Multi-Use Trail, we ascended Bald Rock Mountain on the Bald Rock Mountain Trail. Bald Rock Mountain is a popular peak which offers outstanding views over Penobscot Bay and its islands. The lean-tos near the summit are in rough shape, but seem usable in drier weather. It would be nice to see these fixed up.

After leaving the summit, it was an easy descent back to the parking lot using the Bald Rock Mountain, Frohock Mountain, and Multi-Use Trails. It was a great day for this 8 mile loop and we enjoyed the warmer temperatures along the coast!
