Comments
Comments: Gorge Brook starts off snow free. Half way between the second and third bridge, we put on spikes. After a short distance, spikes came off due to all the bare rocks. This was the theme of the day. We probably put spikes on and off at least 8 times. I was surprised how deep the snow still is at high elevation. Given the warm day, the steep monorail was still mostly stable. It took concentration to stay in the middle of it, but there was very little postholing from our group. The monorail was too narrow and steep for snowshoes.

Given these obstacles, the hike took longer than it normally does, but the sunshine and perfect temperatures made it worth the effort. Above treeline, there is no snow…spent a half hour on the summit enjoying the beautiful day with a fun group.
