Comments
Comments: Becca Birthday Hike! Shaker Farm Road is pretty rough with big mud puddles and dips but the parking area is flat and lots of room for maybe 20 cars? What a nice warm sunny days and decent views all around. Love how the trail names are painted on the open slabs and everything well blazed. Some of the minor trails on the mountain have hidden trail signs to try to keep the unknowing on the main trails. The weather vane on Monte Rosa was spinning in the wind, we enjoyed hiking up the ledges and rocks. Passing over the top of the Black Precipice we spied rock climber's anchor eye bolt in the rock. This is the largest cliff on the mountain according to the guide book, the views are impressive! We met people hiking down on the White Arrow Trail, the last person blasting music from his backpack. On the summit there were a dozen or so people hanging out all over. Nice breeze, fun pointing out the mountains. Going down the mountain is much more difficult than going up and we picked our way down the slabs, ledges and rocks. Super Day and some new to Becca trails gained today. On way home we stopped by the Shattuck golf course's Tap Room and enjoyed a brew and the restaurant gave Becca a free birthday surprise. Lots of brews on tap and the food is excellent.
