Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Roadside along Valley View Rd. in Hebron at the northern Welton Falls trailhead. If you park here, watch out for some broken pavement along the edge of the road. Looks like it washed out a bit.

Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: I took the liberty of removing a few small blowdowns along Elwell Trail. Several more remain but they are all no big deal and are mainly located between the western junction of Welton Falls Trail and the junction of Oregon Mountain Trail. Otherwise, this route is in fine shape thanks to the local volunteer maintainers.
Dog-Related Notes

Bugs
Bugs: Black flies were out in force (I had an enthusiastic welcoming committee at the trailhead) but didn't seem to be biting yet in this area. There was also a breeze that helped.

Comments
Comments: What a spectacular day for a long ridgecrest walk of nearly ten miles round-trip from Valley View Rd. to Oregon Mtn. Gorgeous sunny skies and not too warm with the breeze.

Despite the recent rain, this entire route was dry with just a few small puddles and scattered muddy spots.

Great views today from the ledges approaching the Oregon Mtn. summit and oddly enough, the power line cut! It's a scenic spot. I really really love the Elwell Trail, especially this wilder, more remote middle section. I never see anyone out here and today was no exception.
