Comments
Comments: Crawford Path was fully packed out due to (what I imagine must have been) an army of snowshoers on Sunday. On the way up, it was dreamy snowshoe conditions. Some of the best snow I’ve seen in a long time. The drifts just below the junction of Webster Cliff are epic. You’re literally walking on top of the trees. A couple routes up WC have been broken, a couple of them meander pretty crazily. Summit cairn is completely buried.

Snow got noticeably more slippery and greasy on the way down. I was wondering what it must have been like without snowshoes, and unfortunately I found out. Spent the last 1.75 miles trying to smooth out the trail which had been rototilled by the last 4 people up. While the trail is broken, the snow is still really soft and not well-consolidated. The trail needs some more snowshoe love over the next couple of days to (hopefully) set up once the snow consolidates fully. Also, the conifer bombs have yet to drop. The trees are still holding on to a LOT of snow, and once that comes down, parts of the trail are going to need to be re-broken.

Additional notes:
- Mizpah Cutoff has one, maybe two sets of tracks on it. Looks like people made the summit from that trail, as I saw the trail tracked out in that direction from the summit. Looks like someone broke it in snowshoes, then someone else came behind and postholed pretty good. If you’re heading that way, be prepared for soft snow and sinking.
- Crawford Path has tracks heading out to Eisenhower. Not sure if they went all the way, but there are tracks.
